We are using Oracle Dyn Managed DNS to host all of our domains across the organization. With Dyn DNS it is very responsive and the population of DNS across the globe is immediate. So during DNS publish we never waited for more than 30 min.
  • User Management is easy
  • I can give the Role base Access to DNS
  • The failover Functionality of DNS works very well.
  • We didn't find any cons yet as there as whatever we are looking for and using is already there in Dyn Managed DNS
If anyone looking for DNS hosting with quick response time will surely suggest the Oracle Dyn Managed DNS. User management is one of the best features which we used to give Role base access to DNS.

We use it to manage our public facing DNS records. It acts as the entry point to our website and other services for all users both internal and external. We also use it for load balancing and redundancy. It alerts us when things go up and down which is useful.
  • Easy to manage
  • Records update almost immediately
  • Provides geographic load balancing
  • Sometimes its hard to find the settings I'm looking for
  • Confusing to transfer domains into Dyn
Its very easy to manage and does exactly what it advertises. It works great if you have multiple DNS records to manage. It makes it really easy to do so. If you only have 1 record then it probably doesn't make sense to use Dyn. Other than that I'd say use it.

Oracle DYN DNS is used by our IT department to manage all our company and client domains. We rely on DYN advanced active failover features to provide our clients the redundancy and resiliency of an Enterprise solution. With it we can make sure that the client services are never down for more than 1 min by failing them over to our DR site using DYN.
  • Excellent Active Failover configuration with flexible health monitors and syslog capabilities.
  • The ability to easily configure Domain forwarding and redirection using several rule types.
  • It has excellent audit tracking, which allows us to tell who made a change to what part of the domain records.
  • It would be nice if the interface was more user-friendly and reduce the number of clicks to get a record edited.
  • A dashboard with better service summary for the domains.
DYN offers great active failover capabilities which are very easy to configure and use.

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS for our public facing enterprise websites. It is being used only by our department. We also use it for switchover between our primary and secondary data center in the event of failure.
  • Oracle Dyn Managed DNS's GUI is very user-friendly.
  • The configuration is also very easy.
  • I would like to see a GUI Dashboard where Dyn shows all of the DNS traffics.
Oracle Dyn Managed DNS is well suited for a company that would like to utilize active failover between datacenters.

  • They have great customer support
  • Keep me informed of changes
  • Always reach out to me when new features are available
  • The interface could use an upgrade, there are always places this could be done
They are well suited for DNS services and management, also well suited for protective services. I really don't have any complaints.

DNS is a very critical service for every business and NBC is no exception. Uptime, faster resolution, low latency and ease of use are keys of a good DNS service. NBC has been using Oracle Dyn Managed DNS for over 6 years using it to manage the DNS for over 100 production and non-production services. The service is flexible, with an intuitive user interface and also offers RESTful APIs for automation. 2FA is supported for securing the service. It provides low TTLs for up to 30 seconds for production services which need the flexibility to change. With the exception of a DDOS attack in 2016 during which service was impacted, the service is been up all the time.
  • Ease of use, highly configurable, RESTful APIs, and uptime are highlights of the product.
  • Low latency, uptime, and fast resolutions are keys to our business and Oracle Dyn Managed DNS shines.
  • The support people are very professional, easy to reach and helped find solutions within minutes.
  • The core service meets all our needs. I see no reasons to change the user interface or anything just for the sake of an update.
RESTful APIs are really helpful in automating for creating, updating, and deleting A records. During a 2016 DDoS attack, Oracle Dyn Managed DNS recovered relatively quicker given the scale and complexity of the attack.

Our SaaS relies on Oracle Dyn to provide reliable DNS service so our customers can access our service on our primary data center. Additionally, Oracle Dyn provides us virtually instant failover/switchover capability to our DR data center. Our domain names/subdomains are configured with 30 sec/1 min TTL on Dyn. So during a recent DR testing demonstration, we were able to demonstrate a simulated failover with a verified RTO and RPO of 1 min by simply changing the A record on our testing subdomain. The customers were impressed.
  • Option for 30 second TTL
  • Zero DNS outage since migrating to Oracle Dyn vs, four outages per year from the previous provider.
  • Easy and safe user interface to manage DNS
  • Cost: OracleDyn is EXPENSIVE
If the business has a SaaS that requires 24/7 uptime, Oracle Dyn is absolutely a key component.

We use this product to manage all of the organizations DNS services. Although our organization's domains are registered through other 3rd party providers they are mostly configured to point to Dynect for their name servers (DN records). This is used across the entire organizations as well as all of our external partners.
  • Ease of changing records.
  • Review of packages and offerings.
With the fact that our name server records reside on 3rd party providers, we can quickly make changes and they are live.

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS as one of two providers (primary-secondary) for the whole infrastructure of our SaaS solution and also for auxiliary needs - like internal development purposes or the marketing website.
  • Stability/reliability of the service
  • Decent user interface
  • Good API
  • Authentication and user management (confusing two layers of portal vs. DynECT)
Well-suited for heavy load of DNS traffic with multiple zones, especially if managed programmatically. Less appropriate if you just have two DNS entries for your personal website.

We use Dyn-DNS to facilitate active monitoring of devices at sites across the US. By having a fully qualified domain name, we can ensure that our equipment remains reachable even if the IP address changes.
  • Easy to maneuver after basic instruction.
  • Easy to train others how to use it.
  • Simplistic.
  • Reduce the steps to commit a change. Sometimes I forget to click the very last Publish link as I have already clicked "Review & Publish."
  • The search function could use some updating I shouldn't have to type EXACTLY what I am searching for. For example, AAA1234 vs just AAA or 1234.
  • Ability to change more than one item associated with the same site. For example, , AAA1234-WAN1 or AAA1234-WAN2 versus AAA1234-WAN1 & AAA1234-WAN2.
It's the only DNS I currently use, so I cannot attest to how it compares with other DNS services.

It is being used by the entire organization, as well as with our clients. The biggest purpose it serves is for some of our failover records in case of an ISP outage. That's where we get the largest value from. Without this, we would have some sites and remote locations that wouldn't function.
  • Failover
  • Speed
  • Usability
  • Creating new users and assigning permissions - this is very clunky and difficult. Even more so since the usernames changed a while back.
We have 102 zones currently and are always adding more. The ease of use is a big plus. It's very easy to create everything you need and get to where you need in a few clicks. I have even started using the API and a powershell module to create/modify some records.

Dyn is one of our external DNS providers, serving DNS queries for our properties to the general internet population.
  • Reliable
  • "Advanced" DNS Services Available (Load Balanced DNS, Monitoring and Automatic Failover, GeoDNS, etc)
  • An API for advanced users and bulk changes
  • Reasonably priced
  • As a relatively experienced engineer, I find the UI to be incredibly obtuse and counter-intuitive. I try and use the API for most things, but for some people that may not be an option.
  • The user documentation is a bit hard to navigate. DNS in general is pretty simple, so this is a minor gripe, but it's hard to find specific info sometimes.
Dyn is something of an industry standard when it comes to global DNS providers. The platform is used by many major web-based companies, and for good reason.

As one of the largest providers of public DNS services, Dyn is hard to beat in terms of reliability or feature set. However, if your QPS needs aren't at an enterprise level and you won't be taking advantage of some of the more "advanced" features like DNS Load Balancing, Traffic Director, or GeoDNS, you may be better off with a less-expensive plan or alternative.

Oracle Dyn Managed DNS is being used to support our e-learning platform across our organization by monitoring, customizing, and rapidly delivering sites. We use it for fail-over redundancy, and also in order to rapidly spin up new domain instances and records without the typical DNS propagation delay that's common in other platforms.
  • Easy to use interface
  • Reliable uptime
  • Optimized speeds
  • More robust billing system options
Oracle Dyn Managed DNS is well suited for companies that need to do rapid deployments of multiple web domain instances that need very minimal latency and maximum DNS uptime. It is also useful for companies that need to do fail-over capabilities and rapidly change DNS records on the fly. It is not as useful to companies who are not worried about serving content quickly or are not doing rapid changes.

We use Managed DNS for our primary public DNS for 4 domains. Our entire organization, which spans across Canada, relies on the service.
  • Very easy user interface to manage DNS.
  • Reliable. We have never had any downtime ever.
  • DNS records are updated and propagated very fast.
  • We have been Oracle customers for 25 years before Dyn. It is very encouraging now that Oracle is part of Dyn.
  • Some more help on newer technologies like DMARC, and specific TXT records that are not common.
It is very affordable for a reliable product.

Our company is using what was previously DynECT to give fast access to our different domains to serve our sites for online scheduling. Since we have sites for several different languages and countries, we need to give fast access to each top level domain. We also use it for emails and proxies on different service providers.
  • Easy to use interface
  • Secure login with 2FA
  • Quick and works well
  • Not really, it works for what we need it for
It works great for providing fast access to the IPs of our different web sites, email services, proxies and we didn't ever look for an alternative since we moved [to this solution]. It was previously dynECT, and I find that name easier to remember than Oracle Dyn Managed DNS, but the service hasn't changed and we're still happy with it.

  • Stays running
  • reliable
  • The user interface is abysmal. I am shocked that it has been alive this long and is so terrible. Ghastly and bletcherous.

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS across our organization to help manage not only our DNS but also the DNS and a few other DNS related services for most of our clients. It's great having a central location for all management, not to mention an interface that is easy for new users as well as advanced options for power users.
  • Central Management
  • GUI works for beginners or power users
  • Ability to easily adjust settings per domain
  • Support was quick to respond the few times I've reached out to them
  • Historical configurations easily accessible
  • I can't really think of anything that stands out as a con.
Companies that are frequently needing to update DNS and/or have propagation occur quickly are well suited here. The ability to drop TTLs to 30 seconds makes migrations (and reverting) easy. DNS Active Failover is a great alternative for those that need high availability but don't want to sink lots of money into other technologies.

I was using DYN managed DNS to provide DNS service for my blog, thefrugalgirl.com.
  • Our DNS service was provided without any hiccups.
  • Dyn Managed DNS is wildly overpriced as compared to other similar services; also, the charges for spikes in traffic seemed unnecessary.
  • Dyn Managed DNS had very inflexible contract options; to downgrade our service when the site traffic went down— we had to agree to use Dyn for another two years! The customer service representatives who we had contact with did not seem interested in working with us or earning our business. We did not feel that they cared.
I suppose Dyn DNS might be good for a larger company with more complicated needs than I had. For me, personally, it was expensive overkill. No matter the size of the company, though, Dyn is going to struggle unless its customer service and flexibility improve.

We manage roughly 300 websites as part of our overall marketing plan for our clients. We use Dyn to manage DNS for just about all of them. The biggest thing it helps with is the cname flattening, which allows us to move websites across servers and maintain connectivity, because the A record isn't directly linked to an IP address.
  • We love the cname flattening. This allows us to be extremely flexible.
  • We love their user management, which allows us to manage our 15 users across departments.
  • The advanced DNS tools really help us to get the most from our DNS needs.
  • The interface seems slightly outdated compared with the likes of GoDaddy and even CloudFlare. We still love the functionality, but that is one recommendation I have with my history in the front end.
  • I'd like to see Dyn offer open source SSLs. This is one thing I still really like about CloudFlare's service.
To anyone who is building on WordPress, we always recommend Dyn and WP Engine. WP Engine's hosting is fantastic, and provides cnames rather than just IP addresses. Dyn allows us to utilize this flexibility with cname flattening. This allows us to move accounts between our WP Engine accounts, or even to our client's accounts, without downtime.

We used to host external DNS servers inside the organization on some Solaris 5 Unix boxes, until a couple of years ago. My predecessor was involved with transitioning to a hosted DNS product, but we didn't stay with that provider for very long. When that guy left, my coworker chose Dyn as hosted DNS, and when he left it fell to me. I had already been using it for some time though.

I like the interface of it. We have about 15 domains for which we use it. Updates were very fast. I use Lets Encrypt's certbot for SSL certificates. One of the sites I used it for is limited to LAN and a handful of external IPs, so renewing certificates was a hassle. The newer method to prove domain ownership is by creating a DNS TXT record and letting the renewing script pick up the TXT token. This could take a while with privately managed DNS, but Dyn has a large presence, so updates propagate fairly quickly.

My company was recently purchased and the parent co. has its own DNS management choice, so we've moved out of Dyn :(. If it were up to me, I'd like to stay with Dyn.

Lastly, the Export editor is very useful. Among other functions, you can export the zone files individually for backup purposes.
  • Updates are very fast.
  • The serial number is updated using the standard YYYYmmddHHMMSSxx format, and the zone notes are kept for a while.
  • They employ 2FA (Google Authenticator, not that SMS garbage) for signing in. I've tried to push this, but it wasn't adopted by all of my IT colleagues. At least if our DNS had been compromised, it wasn't going to be with my account.
  • The account ownership can be a big to-do if the account owner leaves the organization. My leader was let go, and the account was in her name. When my company was purchased and she was let go, we moved to another DNS hosted platform, and getting the account out of her name was complicated. I suppose that's best for security though.
  • I really don't have any complaints about Dyn. It's a great service.
  • I'm told our plan was expensive. I don't know exactly what it ran, though.
Oracle Dyn Managed DNS has a large presence, so DNS updates happen quickly. It's well suited to larger corporations that have a lot of records, even if only resolving for a handful of IPs. Smaller organizations may not see the cost benefit, and would be better off hosting their own DNS, or going through the provider where they bought the domain name. This doesn't give much resilience and fault tolerance though.

As a mostly online retailer, with several brands under our umbrella, our websites are what brings the money in. Therefore, finding a reliable, fast, easily manageable, resilient DNS provider was imperative. Our IT organization uses Dyn as the primary DNS provider for all of our 100+ domains. We use their Managed DNS service.
  • Dyn's API is extensive. Any and all tasks can be automated, be it updating an MX record for every single domain, or doing a quick audit to see if an IP is used somewhere. No other DNS provider has that.
  • Reporting and auditing. We can run reports against queries, against users, against changes. Everything is tracked.
  • User Interface. It's simple, efficient and allows me to do quick tasks, like adding a record to a zone, in just a few clicks.
  • Uptime. I mean, except that one DDoS against Dyn that brought down half of the internet, I never saw them down.
  • Bulk record change can only be done via API. Which could make it harder for novice users to use, having to rely on manually going from zone to zone.
If you are looking for a stable, resilient, reliable DNS provider, and have tons of domains, Dyn Managed DNS service is perfect. From the ability to set the TTL to 30 seconds, to having tech support that is quick and knowledgeable, Dyn DNS is the way to go for large enterprises. Managed DNS is probably less appropriate if you only have one or two domains due to cost.

We are running multiple services for our customers who rely on fast responses from the servers. We use a container tag to deliver online advertisements to our clients. Within the container, we have APIs that deliver user/site information. Delivery and collection of that information is very crucial and should be done in miliseconds. That's where Oracle Dyn shines. It had the quickest response time that we tested.

Domain management for these services is the first most important part of the structure. Response time is really important to us. Oracle Managed DNS makes it very easy to set up and run flawlessly in no time.
  • Easy set up
  • Great response time
  • Great customer service
  • Abundance of features
  • Pricing
  • Quick tool/tip option to explain some of the more technical setups
Pricing could be a big decision-making factor, especially when you could get some of the same basic features for free. Where Oracle Dyn Managed DNS shines is with its service and responsiveness. There's nowhere else you can get it.

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS to manage all of our domains. We used to use the ISP's DNS services, but switching to Dyn Managed DNS reduces our time for changes/updates from days to minutes.
  • DNS updates can be seen in minutes
  • You get a summary of changes prior to publishing, to allow for proofreading your changes
  • Audit log of changes made
  • Maybe provide better automation for zone transfers
  • Some form of automating the creation of reverse lookup zones for small subnets, including the ability to send name record requests to the remote ISP that owns the full IP block
Dyn Managed DNS is a great fit if you make changes or additions often, or have a lot of records. It isnt needed if you only have a few addresses, and do not make many changes/additions

Our organization uses it to control the DNS of all of our support clients. It gives our technicians a single location and a single user account to update DNS no matter which client they are helping. It gives our managers the ability to remove access of former employees to the DNS of all of our clients at once.
  • Easily find a specific domain within the domains a user has access to
  • Easily edit/update existing DNS entries
  • Verification before publishing changes
  • The UI could use some improvement in regards to DNS updates. One seems overly complicated and the other doesn't always line up properly.
A company with many domain names or a company that manages many domain names would be well suited to use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS. A company with only a few domains and no need for dynamic DNS entries would be better off with less complicated solutions.

We use it to manage all our external DNS traffic. This is used for several domains we own and we need to constantly keep it updated as our configurations change or new configurations need to be implemented.
  • Makes it very easy to manage our external DNS records.
  • Great explanation on how to configure things if you're not sure.
  • Tech support is a click away and it's very easy to get answers to questions or problems you are facing.
  • Would be nice if I could reset my 2FA myself rather then calling into support, but I understand why it is set up how it is.
